YAY THAT'S RIGHT SCIENCE FAIR TIME

                                                  Whats Up Graphic #33
Hey and you see that amazing hey sign up there CLICK HERE to go to the website. So at my school (Shreiner Academy)  we are having the science fair. My project is amazing. At least that's what I think. My science fair project was exposure if baby food and the degree if contamination. I just called it " Growth Spurt ". Well let's move on into science time. Here is what I am going to talk about.

  •  What was my attitude going into the science fair? Was this my first science  fair or did I have experience going into this one?
  • Why did I choose this topic?

  • What was involved in putting my project together? What was easy? What was difficult?   I am going  write about the highs and lows in putting my project together and  some  things  that I learned.
  • In the end, did I feel proud of my  project and how I  presented it? Did my outlook on the science fair change from the attitude I had at the beginning? Looking back, what was something I was  proud of and something I would have done differently?

Well, I guess my attitude was really great doing the whole science fair. When  I went up there to present I felt confident in myself and that I can do it. I thought I could do anything.

Okay, now to the fun part about my blog. THE INFORMATION!Oh yeah, let me talk about it.Well my project always has to with getting the materials.

  • 9 petri dishes prepared with blood agar (Blood Agar- A nutrient culture medium that is enriched with whole blood and used for the growth of certain strains of bacteria.)
  • 3 bottles of chicken and gravy baby food
  • 3 bottles of sweet carrots baby food
  • 3 bottles of applesauce  baby food
  • A refrigerator
  • 9 sterile cotton buds
  • 1 permanent marker pen
Okay so after I was done getting my materials, I did my project. First, I left out one of each of the baby food out for 30 minutes. Then another for 1 hour and one more for  2 hours. After that, I put the pairs of baby food in the refrigerator for  24 hours. Then after 4 days the food contamination started to grow.

CLICK HERE  to see that bacteria picture

Okay,we all know that the science fair is amazing and that my science project is  about food contamination, but do you know what food contamination is well here is a website
CLICK HERE. Food contamination happens when you leave out food for to long and it gets old and then your food can get contaminated.

Okay,I chose this topic because when I see something that has to do with mold, I got to do it.So  I went on this WEBSITE I had to see what this project was and I clicked on it. I saw that the effects on baby food are still effects on real food.CLICK HERE
This was not my first science fair. This is like my 4th science fair project. As always I think I did good overall.

Well, in the science fair I WON  honorable mention. I guess that good, but I was still happy anyway because I won something. So that made me happy.

Okay, that's my blog see you later

Mammals

                                      Hello Graphic #91

Hey there it's Taylor. What I am going to talk about today is mammals! Like sometimes cute and sometime mean mammals.Well, lets go into adventure mode.

                                                  http://firopik.blogspot.com/

What I am going to talk about...

·  Describe five characteristics of all mammals and explain how they allow mammals to survive in different environments. In what ways are birds and mammals similar?

·  Differentiate among placental mammals, monotremes, and marsupials.
·  Compare the baby animals of  placental mammals with that of monotremes and marsupials.
·  Choose an mammal that you would like to learn more about and teach us some interesting facts about that mammal.

This is a marsupial.
http://animals.howstuffworks.com/mammals/marsupial-pictures.htm

Did you know that mammals teeth come in different shapes and sizes.Mammals have there teeth specialized by what they eat. Many mammals are carnivores so they will need some big sharp claws the  to rip it's prey to pieces. Like horses they have teeth sorta like ours. Some horses are very happy eating grass, hay,and shrubs. What we need to remember is that us mammals have different types of teeth.

http://www.zooplanets.com/mammals/integumentary-form-and-function.php

Okay, know I am going to talk about there mammary glands. Mammary Glands help feed their young milk produced by the mammary glands. Mammary glands are really important to mammals because it is the only way they can feed there young.

http://www.holtanatomical.com/action.lasso?-db=hP2.fp3&-lay=products&op=bw&category=genital&-maxrecords=10&pic=yes&-format=results2.html&-search

Next, I am going to tell you about endothermic.Endothermic means when your body tempter stays the same. If you are in a 50 degree weather your body tempter will still be normal or what it is suppose to be.

http://www.shop.montessoriprintshop.com/Endothermic-or-Ectothermic-Animals-SCF-59.htm

Another characteristic is that ALL MAMMALS I MEAN  ALL  mammals have hair of fur. So,if you don't have hair or fur don't even bother about asking if you can be in the mammals group. All mammals have hair or fur to keep them warm just like birds have down feathers to keep them warm. Did you know that people have fur coats that are made of actual animal fur.Cool and not so cool at the same time.

http://theholyislam.blogspot.com/2009/10/know-islam-rights-of-animals-in-islam.html

Last, but not least, of my characteristics of course. Okay this exiting moment has come down to this.I am going to talk about is THAT THEY ALL ARE VERTEBRATES! Know let me explain a little.See a vertebrate is a animal with a backbone. so remember the one thing that mammals will always have is a backbone.

 http://the-right-solutions.blogspot.com/2010/08/missing-backbone.html

Know I can talk about the differences between birds and mammals. Well, what I think is a major obvious is that birds have feathers and mammals have hair or fur and major difference that some birds can fly and mammals cannot fly at all.Not even a little sad,but okay because mammals still rule.Anyways mammals have teeth birds don't. Birds have beaks or bills mammals don't.I could go on and on , but there is more to tell.

   VS

Feather-http://www.pionusparrot.com/Feathers.htm

Fur-http://www.sfdm.scad.edu/faculty/mkesson/vsfx419/wip/spring11/shannon_dingle/fur.html

Not all of the mammals are in on group they have three types of them PLACENTAL,MARSUPIALS,AND MONOTREMES.I am going to tell you the difference between them.Placentals are humans like me and you.Marsupials are koalas and kangaroos. Monotremes are freaky they are the platypus and echidna.

Placental mammals- They make up the biggest group of mammals. Many placental babies are born fully developed and some can even just get up and run.

Marsupials mammals- they crawl into their mothers pouch and feed off their mothers milk to complete their development/

Monotremes mammals-these mammals make up the smallest group of mammals and they are the only that don't have nipples and they are the only mammals that lay eggs.

http://www.zmescience.com/research/studies/mammals-half-way-extinct/

Well, placental babies are born fully developed.Marsupial babies go into their mothers pouch then, it drinks its mothers milk from inside of the pouch. Monotremes are born in a egg and they all very different in there own ways.

Last ,but not least my favorite mammal is kolas I love them. They     can grow up to 27-36 in and weigh up to 9-20 pounds. They mostly live in Australia,South Australia by the way

Well, this is the end of my blog.So this means that it is time to say my bye-bye.Hope you enjoyed my blog and don't forget to leave some comments. Bye!

Linda Brown Thompson

Dropping By Graphic #5Hey, have you guys ever heard of the Brown vs. Topeka Board of Education case? Well, since my mom is a lawyer she taught me a little bit more about this topic. Ms.Brown was one of the first black kids to go to a white school. COOL RIGHT!If you don't know her full name it's Linda Brown Thompson. Well, I am not going to keep you waiting, let's go!

WHAT I am going to talk about!
  1.  Ms.Brown's Childhood
  2.  Linda Brown Thompson
  3. My day at the Atlanta History Center
  4. FUN FACT!
  5. What I liked at the Atlanta History Center.

Now, first I am going to talk about her childhood. She was born in Topeka,Kansas in 1942.Pretend you were seven and you always had to walk a mile to school.Life was not easy for her, but she did it she got blacks and whites to the same school. She was picked on and not respected just because of her race.Oliver Brown(Her dad) said "This is crazy blacks and whites need to be equally treated." So that's what he did he went to a near by White school and asked "Can I see the person in charge"they said "NO!" and they need to leave quickly.

Linda Brown

Linda Brown was one of the first black kids tho go to a white school. I know it was a BIG DEAL to go to a white school.Did you know that they gave less money to the black schools and more money to the white schools. SO UNFAIR!

Hey, you know the Atlanta History Center I learned a little bit of what happened in the Civil Rights Movement. I went there with my class it was so much fun. First we went and learned a bit and then we went into war. Not like real war ,but I hope you know what I mean. If not then let me tell you about it. The guider first gave us a clip board, then we had a soldiers name and some points( heath and morale points) I had SO much FUN on that field trip.

                    FUN FACT !

Wilbur had his own book called Hard Marching Every Day: The Civil War Letters of Private Wilbur Fisk.

Well, sadly I only have one more thing to talk about and that is...what I liked about it. HMMMM.... maybe my favorite part was when we went into war. I already told you that it was not real war. So don't freak out.Nobody got killed. So yay.Why you are probably asking well because I got to do it with my friends and that's what made the field trip fun.So there you got my answer.

Adios... Hope to see you on my next blog and by the way if you did not notice this is my science blog. I am doing Social Studies.HAHAHHA!OH YAYAYAYAY almost forgot here are the links to where I got my pictures.

BIRDS!

Wassup its Taylor here and if you did not know I am going to talk about a thing that can fly. If you said Birds then you shall be correct.Well I am not going to keep you waiting for the amazing blog.Anyway lets get started.

Birds!Nobody really thinks about one til they see it,but they probably say " Hey look that is pretty bird". They never ask "Hey how do they fly?" Well the anwser to that is so simple. They have hallow bones and when you have hallow that allows you to have light weight when you fly.We could fly ,but we have hard and heavy bones. Birds have not not so heavy or hard bones. Here is a picture.

Next! Why are birds endothermic?I bet if your reading this you never really thought aboout it? Well me to intil I did this blog. See they have to be endothermic because there are just built that way nobody really knows why.

OKAY!Know I want to get to something that we all notice on a bird or the bird of prey(eagle)there beak or bill. Well the bird of prey has a beak for catching and riping there food to shreads.Reagular birds have a bill because they are small and the beak would be to heavy for them to carry around.

                                       FUN FACTS!
  •   Did you know that female birds have a dark dule look to there featers to protect there babies and males have such a bright colorful look to there feathers.

  • They have to types of feathers contor feather and a down feather cool right. A contour feather gives the bird the stream line shape. The down feather keeps them warm.

As we all know our national bird is the BALD EAGLE well I am going to tell you a few things about BALD EAGLES first they are one of the  best hunters. Thats probably why they are also known as the bird of prey.Cool right I would want to have a nickname like that. They are called the bald eagle because a long time ago people thought white is bald and then thats how it go hes name.

Last ,but not least my favorite bird is the LESSER GREEN BOARDBILL BIRD. Its latin name is Calyptomena viridis. Did you  know that they all love to live in like a cool tropical range. So I bet you will never see one in Atlanta.

Thank you so much for reading my blog and I hope to see some good comments!BYE

SLIMY AMPHIBIANS

                                       Hello Graphic #119
HEY. Its me.Wondering if you want to jump into learning about AMPHIBIANS. Well I hope you do. Cause I know that I do. Lets move on and I will tell you what I am going to talk about.

  • Amphibians(frogs and toads)
  • The life cycle of amphibians
  • Where they live
  • How they breathe
  • Are they cold-blooded
  • How they lay eggs

Today I am talking about these amphibians

Not this amphibian

He is amazing right. I know and you don't forget it.

Frogs and toads are both awesome, but they are still somewhat very different. Like toads they have skin that kinda fells like warts.NASTY. Have you heard the story when you touch a toad you get warts. I have and I will never touch one . Anyway they are different in so many ways.

Do you see the difference in the picture I do.

Next is the life cycle of these amphibians. They go from an egg, to a tadpole, to an adult. Cool right. See they go throw this thing called metamorphosis. It is something like a baby into his moms stomach and than into a toddler.

==

AWESOME!!!!!!!

Normally they live near swamps because it is where all of the insects are and it is a good place to give live birth. The swamps are a place that is like a wetland. So that means that they can keep their skin moist so they don't get dried out and possibly die. Swamps are probably the best place for them to live. WOW

OK next on my list is how they breathe when they are still in the eggs they live in water until they are fill grown adults. Why you ask. Well I am going to tell you. When they are going throw metamorphosis they star to grow legs and they leap out of the water because they have grown lungs and they don't have gills anymore.

They are cold blooded that means thet they can change their body tempter. So if they when in a fifty five degree weather they would have that same tempter in their body , but if the weather was hot that means the body tempter would be hot to.

Last, but not lets how they lay their eggs. They first of course breed. Then they lay the eggs in a safe spot next. Until the eggs hatch the paretnts will gard them. when the eggs hatch the are taken to a water leaf one bye one . If they are not they will try to eat each other. Then the parents leave and then they star the hole life cycle all over agian.

Goodbye Graphic #40
That is it for today hope you had a fun time and the  video for the chickens in the movie the muppets was amazing.
